What this screen is for
This screen holds the biometric terminals that feed attendance. Cards count the total devices, how many are active, how many are in an error state, and recent syncs. The list shows each device's name and type, its IP address and port, its status, when it last synced and whether automatic syncing is enabled.
Devices are added, edited and synced from here.
When to use it
Set a device up once when it is installed, then come back when attendance stops arriving from a site — the status and last sync columns are the first place to look. A device in error is usually the reason a location's attendance has gone quiet.
What you see on this screen
Four cards head the page: Total Devices, Active, Errors and Recent Syncs.
The table below is headed Configured Devices:
- Device — the name you gave it, with the device type underneath.
- IP/Port — the address the terminal answers on.
- Status — the connection state. A terminal that has been switched off reads Disabled instead, and the last error, where there is one, is shown in red beneath.
- Last Sync — when attendance was last pulled, with how many records came across. A device that has never synced reads Never.
- Auto Sync — the sync frequency where automatic syncing is on, or Disabled.
- Actions — the row's buttons.
Filters and actions
There is no filter row; the buttons sit on each device.
- Add Device — registers a terminal, asking for a device name, device type, IP address, an optional serial number and a sync frequency.
- Open agent settings — the local agent configuration for that device.
- Test connection — checks the server can reach it.
- Sync attendance — pulls punches across now.
- Sync users from device — brings the device's own user list in.
- Map users — matches a device user id and name to an employee, which is what turns a punch into attendance.
- Edit and Delete — change or remove the device.
Status values
- Active — reachable and working.
- Inactive — registered but not currently in use.
- Error — the last attempt failed; the reason is shown under the status.
- Syncing — a pull is running now.
- Disabled — the device has been switched off in its own settings, so no status is reported.
