What this screen is for
This is the queue of leave requests. Each one carries an employee, a leave type, the dates requested and a status — open, approved or rejected. You can search by employee name or code, filter by employee, leave type and status, and sort newest or oldest first. An apply option submits a new request from the same screen.
Staff viewing their own leave see only their own applications.
When to use it
Work through the open ones regularly. An approved application reduces the employee's balance and shows as leave rather than absence in their attendance, so a decision left outstanding leaves both figures unsettled when the pay period closes.
What you see on this screen
- Employee — who is asking.
- Leave Type — which kind of leave.
- From and To — the dates requested. Both sortable.
- Days — how many days it comes to, with a half marker where it is a half day. Sortable.
- Status — where the request has reached. Sortable.
- Reason — what the person wrote. Long text expands in place rather than being clipped, because this is what the approver is deciding on.
- Actions — Approve and Reject on open requests, plus delete; a dash once the request is settled.
Filters and actions
- Search — by employee name or code, with a button beside the box.
- Show Filters — opens Employee (hidden when you are viewing your own leave), Leave Type and Status. A badge counts how many are set.
- Clear All — removes them.
- Newest First / Oldest First — a chip that flips the sort direction.
- Apply Leave — opens a form asking for the employee, leave type, from and to dates, a half-day tick box, a calculated total days figure and a reason.
- Approve / Reject — decide an open request.
Status values
- Open — submitted and waiting on a decision.
- Approved — granted. The days come off the balance and show as leave in attendance.
- Rejected — turned down.
