Vans

Vans treated as warehouses. Each shows the salesperson it is assigned to, how many items it carries and what that stock is worth.

What this screen is for

Vans treated as warehouses on wheels. The stock on a van has left your premises but has not yet been sold, so each entry shows the salesperson it is assigned to, how many items it holds and what that stock is worth.

When to use it

Register a van when you put a rep on the road with goods to sell, and consult the list to see where your mobile stock is sitting and how much value is out at any given moment. It is the figure that answers a question a stock report on its own cannot: how much of what you own is not where you think it is.

What you see on this screen

One row per van, and clicking anywhere on it opens that van's own page with the stock it is carrying.

  • Van — the van's name, with its code beneath where one was given or generated.
  • Salesperson — the rep it is assigned to, or Unassigned. An unassigned van is stock on the road with nobody answerable for it.
  • Products — how many distinct items it is carrying.
  • Stock Value — what that stock is worth. Read down this column for the total value of goods currently away from your premises.
  • Status — Active or Inactive; see below.

Filters and actions

New Van opens a short form: Van name (required, such as a registration number), Salesperson (optional, and left as Unassigned if you skip it) and Code (optional, generated for you if left blank). There is no search or filter, since a fleet is a short list.

A van is loaded and reconciled elsewhere; this screen registers the vehicle and reports what is on it.

Status values

  • Active — the van is in service and can be loaded and assigned.
  • Inactive — the van is retired or off the road. It keeps its history rather than being deleted, which matters when reconciling an old round.
