What this screen is for
Each payment mode has a name, a type, and a linked account, and two separate switches decide whether it is offered when receiving money and when paying it out. One mode can be starred as the default, and any mode can be made inactive. The table shows at a glance which modes are unlinked.
Why it matters
The linked account is what the money posts to, so a mode with no account attached will not put the amount where you expect in the books. The default is what staff will reach for without thinking, so set it to the one you genuinely use most. A mode in use cannot be tidied away without consequence - deactivate rather than delete, and note that the default mode cannot be deleted.
What you see on this screen
Eight columns. Mode Name is what staff pick from. Linked Account is the ledger account the money posts to, or Not linked. Type is the kind of payment. Receive and Pay each read Yes or No, showing whether the mode is offered in that direction. Default carries a star on the one mode that is pre-selected. Status is active or inactive. Actions holds edit and delete.
Adding or editing a mode asks for Mode Name (required), Mode Type (required) and Linked Account (required). The account picker is grouped into Bank Accounts, Cash Accounts and Digital Wallets and filters itself to the groups that suit the mode type, with a Show All Accounts tick box and a search when you need something else. Below that sit an optional Description and four switches: Show on Receive (available for receiving payments), Show on Pay (available for making payments), Active and Set as Default.
Filters and actions
There is no search or filter over the list itself. Add Payment Mode creates one; the star on a row sets it as the default; the status badge toggles active and inactive; edit and delete sit at the end of each row, and delete is hidden on the default mode.
Status values
The mode types are Cash, UPI, PayID, BPAY, Credit Card, Debit Card, Wallet, Crypto, Bank Transfer and Net Banking; which are offered depends on your company country, though a mode already using one stays editable. Each mode is Active or Inactive.
