What this screen is for
This is where a course is put together. Course details cover the title, what it covers and who it is for, its category, and who can be enrolled: everyone, staff only or students only. Lessons are then added in the order learners work through them, each pointing at one material, with an estimated time, an optional section heading and an optional practice quiz; lessons can be moved up and down. Finally, the exam and certificate settings decide whether a final exam must be passed, whether a certificate is issued, whether an administrator must approve a completion before the certificate is granted, how long the certificate stays valid, and which certificate design is used.
When to use it
Use it when creating new training or revising existing training. Save as a draft while you work; publish when it is ready for learners.
What you see on this screen
Three sections.
Course details — Title (required), Description, Category, Who can be enrolled (Everyone, Staff only or Students only), and Estimated minutes, which may be left blank to add up the lessons instead.
Lessons — added in the order learners work through them. Each lesson takes a Material from the library, a Lesson title (required), an optional Section heading, an optional Practice quiz, Minutes, and a tick for Required to finish the course. Lessons can be moved up and down, or removed. A footnote explains that practice quizzes can be retaken freely and skipped, and do not gate the course.
Exam & certificate — a Final exam chosen from your published quizzes, with a note that learners may retake it as often as they need and every attempt is recorded. A tick issues a certificate on completion; ticking it reveals whether an admin must approve first, the Certificate design, a Number prefix, and whether the certificate expires with a Valid for (days) figure.
Where something stops the course going live, a panel headed Before this course can be published lists exactly what.
Filters and actions
Save course or Create course stores it. Publish makes it visible to learners, and is disabled while any blocker remains, with the reason shown on hover; Unpublish takes it back out of sight. Learners opens the enrolment list, and Courses returns to the list. Delete course asks you to confirm before removing it.
