Backups

Your encrypted backups with their date, type, description, version, size and status, plus total backup storage used. Backups can be created manually, downloaded and restored.

What this screen is for

A card at the top shows total backup storage for the company. The table lists each backup with when it was taken, whether it was scheduled, manual or taken before an update, a description, the version, its size and its status. Filters narrow by date, by type and by status, and a manual backup can be created on demand.

Why it matters

Restoring a backup replaces current data with the state captured at that moment, so anything entered since is lost. It is not a routine action, and the backup date and description are what you should be checking before proceeding. Taking a manual backup before a large change is the cheaper habit.

What you see on this screen

Storage Usage heads the page, described as total backup storage for this company, with the figure in bytes as well as a readable size.

The table has seven columns: Date, Type, Description, Version, Size, Status and Actions. A backup still running shows how many tables and rows it has captured so far rather than a size, which is how you tell a slow backup from a stuck one.

With nothing taken yet, the page invites you to create your first backup.

Filters and actions

Three filters sit above the table: a Search by date box, a Type filter offering All Types, Pre-Update, Manual and Scheduled, and a Status filter offering All Status, Completed, In Progress and Failed. Create Manual Backup starts one immediately.

Row actions are Download Encrypted Backup and Delete Backup. Downloading produces a time-limited link, and the page tells you how many minutes it lasts.

Status values

Type records why the backup exists: Scheduled - taken automatically on a routine; Manual - taken by someone here; Pre-Update - taken automatically before an update was applied, which is often the one you want after an upgrade went wrong.

Status records how it went: Completed - usable; In Progress - still running, with the tables and rows counted so far; Failed - it did not finish, and must not be relied on.
