All Investments

Investments and financial commitments such as insurance, mutual funds and chit funds, with amount invested, current value, gain or loss, and payments due in the next thirty days.

What this screen is for

Money the business has committed rather than spent is tracked here — insurance policies, mutual funds, chit funds and similar. Summary cards show how many are active, the total invested, the current value, the resulting gain or loss, how many payments fall due within thirty days and how much has been paid this month. Where payments are coming up, they are listed in their own panel with overdue ones marked.

When to use it

Review it when an instalment is due, when a policy or fund needs its current value updating, or when you want the overall position across commitments. The list can be searched by name, provider or policy and filtered by type.

What you see on this screen

Six cards: Active, Total Invested, Current Value, Gain/Loss (current value less what has been invested), Due (30d) and Paid This Month. Upcoming Payments (Next 30 Days) lists each one with its name, type, instalment amount and due date, marked OVERDUE where the date has passed.

The table carries:

  • Investment — the name, which opens it, with the investment number beneath
  • Type — life insurance, mutual fund, chit fund, fixed or recurring deposit, PPF, NPS, EPF, stocks, gold, bonds, real estate or other
  • Provider — the institution it is held with
  • Installment — the amount per instalment, with the payment frequency after it
  • Total Invested — what has been paid in so far
  • Current Value — the latest value recorded against it
  • Next Payment — the next due date, marked OVERDUE where it has passed
  • Status — Active, Matured, Surrendered, Lapsed or Closed
  • Actions — record a payment (on an active investment that is not one-time), view, edit and delete

Filters and actions

Show Filters opens Search over name, provider and policy, Type and Status, with Reset. Add Investment creates one. Record Payment opens a form taking the date, amount, Direction — Outflow (paying into) or Inflow (receiving from) — and a payment type that follows it: Installment / EMI for an outflow, or maturity receipt, partial withdrawal, dividend, interest income, surrender, bonus or other for an inflow. It also takes the bank or cash account, a reference, notes, and a tick to create the journal entry for the posting.

Status values

  • Active — running, with instalments still expected
  • Matured — reached its maturity date
  • Surrendered — closed early by your choice
  • Lapsed — allowed to fall away through non-payment
  • Closed — ended and settled
