What this screen is for
A work order is an instruction to make a quantity of something. This screen holds them all, with counts by status across the top and a list you can search by product or customer. Advanced filters narrow by status, priority and a date range, and quick filter chips change the ordering. Each work order opens on its own record, where production against it is tracked.
When to use it
Use it to plan what is to be made and to follow what is in progress. Priority and status together answer the everyday question of what should be worked on next, and the date filters let you look at a particular week or month of planned production.
What you see on this screen
Five cards: Total, Draft, In Progress, Completed and Cancelled. The table carries:
- WO Number — the work order number
- Job Card — the job card reference where one is used on the shop floor
- Product — what is being made
- BOM — the bill of materials the order is built from
- Customer — who the output is for, where the order is against a customer
- Planned — the quantity the order instructs
- Completed — the quantity recorded as produced so far; read against Planned it is the progress
- Status — draft, planned, in progress, completed or cancelled
- Priority — low, medium, high or urgent
- Start Date — when production is due to begin
- Cost — what has been booked against the order
- Actions — view, print, edit and delete
WO Number, Planned, Status, Priority, Start Date and Cost can each be sorted on.
Filters and actions
Search by WO number, job card, product, customer narrows the list. Show Filters opens Status, Priority, Date From and Date To, with Reset and Clear All. A chip switches Newest First / Oldest First. Create Work Order raises one.
Status values
- Draft — being prepared; not yet released to the floor
- Planned — released and scheduled, not yet started
- In Progress — production has begun
- Completed — the planned quantity has been made
- Cancelled — abandoned
