What this screen is for
This screen covers both halves of leave: what you have left, and what you have asked for. Balances are shown per leave type with the days remaining. Apply for Leave opens a form for the leave type, the from and to dates, the number of days and a reason. Your applications are listed below with their dates, days, reason and status so you can see what has been approved and what is still waiting.
When to use it
Check the balance before booking anything, and apply as far ahead as you can. If the page says no leave has been allocated to you, or that leave is not set up for the company, that is a matter for your administrator rather than something you can fix here.
What you see on this screen
One balance card per leave type you have been allocated. Each shows the leave type as its heading, a large number of days remaining, and beside it Allocated, Used and, where you have applications outstanding, Pending, with a bar showing how much of the entitlement is gone.
Leave Applications is the table beneath, with columns Type, From, To, Days, Status and Reason. A half day is marked as such in the Days column. Where you have applied for nothing, it reads "No leave applications yet."
Filters and actions
There are no filters. Apply Leave opens a form taking Leave Type, From Date, To Date, a Half Day tick and a Reason, then Submit. Note that the balance counts approved leave as used and outstanding applications as pending, so an application you have made but which has not been decided already reduces what you can book.
Status values
An application holds one of four values:
- Open — submitted and awaiting a decision; counted as pending against your balance
- Approved — granted, and counted as used
- Rejected — refused
- Cancelled — withdrawn or called off
