What this screen is for
This screen totals the tax taken from salaries over a period you choose. It shows the number of employees covered, the total gross pay and the total tax deducted, with the tax figure split out into TDS and professional tax beneath it so the headline can be checked rather than taken on trust.
A panel alongside restates the associated obligations: TDS deposited by the seventh of the following month, Form 24Q filed quarterly, and Form 16 certificates issued annually to employees.
When to use it
Before a deposit or a quarterly filing, to establish the amount. Note that employee-by-employee and component-by-component breakdowns are not yet available on this screen.
What you see on this screen
Three cards head the page:
- Total Employees — how many people the period covers.
- Total Gross Pay — gross salary across the period.
- Total Tax Deducted — the headline tax figure, with a line beneath naming the TDS and Professional Tax amounts that make it up. That split matters: this card once counted every deduction, including provident fund and advance recovery, under the word tax.
Below them, Tax Compliance Information states the three obligations that follow from the figures, and a Detailed Tax Reports panel notes that employee-wise and component-wise breakdowns are not yet built.
