What this screen is for
Before invoices can be sent for an IRN or e-way bills raised automatically, your GSTIN has to be linked to the government systems. This screen holds those credentials. There is a card for e-Invoice (IRN) and one for e-Way Bill, each with an API username, an API password, an on/off switch and a Test Connection button that authenticates and stamps the time it last verified. Passwords are stored encrypted and are write-only, so leaving the field blank keeps the existing one.
When to use it
Set it up once, when the company starts issuing e-invoices or e-way bills, and return to it if a password changes or a connection stops verifying. The panel on the right walks through creating the API user on the government portals step by step, including which GSP and ERP name to choose. A company GSTIN must be set first.
What you see on this screen
The header reads e-Invoice & e-Way Bill, with your GSTIN beneath it. Where no GSTIN has been set, a GSTIN required notice appears instead, pointing you at Settings and Company; nothing here works until that is done.
Two cards, identical in shape:
- e-Invoice (IRN) — an Enabled switch, API Username (the one you created, which begins with a fixed prefix), API Password (shown as unchanged dots when one is already stored), a verification line reading either the time it was last verified or Not verified yet, and a Test connection button.
- e-Way Bill — the same four controls, plus a link to View generated e-Way Bills.
How to get your credentials runs down the right. For e-Invoice: log in to the e-invoice portal with your GST credentials, go to API Registration and then User Credentials, select Create API User and verify the OTP, choose the GSP option and the named ERP, set a username beginning with the required prefix and a password, then enter them here and test. For e-Way Bill: log in to the e-way bill portal, go to Registration and then For GSP, verify the OTP, click Add or New and select the named ERP.
A footnote confirms credentials are stored encrypted and used only to connect to the government portals.
Filters and actions
Test connection on either card authenticates with the credentials as typed and records the time it verified. Save settings stores both cards. Leaving a password field blank keeps the password already stored, so you can re-save without retyping it.
Status values
Each card shows two things about its state. The Enabled switch is whether the feature is turned on for this company at all. The line beside the test button is whether the credentials have been proven to work: it reads Not verified yet until a test has succeeded, and afterwards shows the time of the last successful verification. Both need to be right before invoices will get an IRN.
