Restaurant Floor

The live view of the dining room: which tables are occupied and what stage each order has reached, from new through preparing, ready and served to billed.

What this screen is for

The live view of the dining room. It shows which tables are occupied and what stage each order has reached — new, preparing, ready, served, billed or cancelled. Floors are created from here too, so a venue with a terrace or an upper room can lay them out separately.

When to use it

This is the screen a floor manager keeps open through service. Use it to see at a glance which tables are waiting on the kitchen, which are ready to bill, and which are free to seat. It reports what is happening now; the layout it draws is defined under Table Management.

What you see on this screen

A legend across the top names the four table colours: Available, Occupied, Reserved and Billing. Where more than one floor exists, a row of buttons switches between them, with All Floors as the default.

The tables themselves are drawn as a grid of tiles, each showing the table's name, its shape, how many it seats, and a coloured dot for its state. An occupied table also carries its current order number and how many items are on it.

Active Orders lists every order still running, with its order number, the table it belongs to or the order type where there is no table, the item count, the covers (PAX), and its stage. Each row has a dropdown that moves the order on to the next stage.

When no tables have been set up the screen says so and links to Table Management rather than showing an empty floor.

Filters and actions

Manage Tables opens the configuration screen. Add Floor creates a new floor by name — the form refuses a name that already exists. There is no search or date filter: this screen is about now.

Status values

A table and an order carry different states, and it is worth keeping them apart.

Table states: Available (free to seat), Occupied (in use), Reserved (held for a booking), Billing (the bill is being settled).

Order stages: New (taken, not yet started), Preparing (with the kitchen), Ready (waiting to go out), Served (delivered to the table), Billed (the bill has been raised) and Cancelled.
