Rounds

The delivery rounds your business runs: each round, the day it is worked, the person who runs it and the customers it serves.

What this screen is for

The delivery rounds your business runs. Each round records the day it is worked, the person who runs it and the customers it serves. It is the same kind of record as a field sales beat, kept on its own screen so a delivery business can manage rounds without turning the whole Field Sales module on.

When to use it

Define a round before you can set standing orders against it or log a day's deliveries — both of those screens start by asking you which round you mean. Revise it when a customer joins or leaves, or when a round changes day or driver.

What you see on this screen

One row per round:

  • Route — the round's name, with its short code beneath where one was given. Names usually follow the ground covered — a street, a colony, an area.
  • Day — the day of the week the round is worked. A dash means none has been set.
  • Salesperson — the person who runs it, or Unassigned.
  • Customers — how many customers are on the round. This is the size of the run.
  • Status — Active or Inactive; see below.
  • Actions — edit the round, which is where customers are added, removed and put in delivery order, or delete it.

The order customers are listed in matters on a round: it is the order the driver works, and the order the run sheet and the daily log print in.

Filters and actions

New Route creates a round. There are no filters — the list is short by design.

Deleting asks first and names the round, its salesperson and how many customers are on it, so the size of what you are removing is on screen before you agree to it. Standing orders and past delivery logs hang off a round, which is why an out-of-service round is better marked inactive than deleted.

Status values

  • Active — the round is in service. It can be picked on the standing orders and daily log screens.
  • Inactive — the round is kept, with its customers and its history, but is out of service.
