Furniture

A shortcut into the asset register for looking at furniture and office fittings.

What this screen is for

This opens the asset register with furniture in mind. The register is the same screen in each case; use the Category filter at the top to select your furniture category and the list narrows to those items, each with its status and holder.

Categories are defined by your company, so the exact name of the furniture category is whatever you set it to.

When to use it

Use it for stocktakes of office fittings, and when a move or a refit means a batch of items needs reassigning to a new location or person.

What you see on this screen

The register's own columns: Asset (name, asset number and serial number), Category, Status with the condition beside it, Assigned To, Value as the purchase price with the current value beneath, and the view, edit and delete actions.

Filters and actions

The menu link arrives carrying the category name, so the register opens already narrowed to it. A company that keeps no category by that name will see an empty list rather than the whole register. Use the Category list under Show Filters to switch categories and the Status list to narrow further, and Reset to drop the category and see the whole register again. For a stocktake, the condition shown beside each status is the column to read: it is what tells you which fittings are due for replacement rather than merely in use. For a move or a refit, Assigned To is the one that matters, since it names whoever is currently answerable for each item.

Status values

  • Available — in stock and free to issue.
  • Assigned — issued to somebody.
  • Under Maintenance — being repaired.
  • Disposed — sold, scrapped or written off.
