What this screen is for
An overview of counter trading. Over a date range you choose, it summarises till performance and lists recent transactions, showing the terminal each was rung up on, the customer, the amount, the status and the time.
When to use it
Use it at the end of a shift or a day to see how the tills did, and to find a particular transaction — a refund query, a disputed amount, a sale a cashier is sure went through. Counter sales also appear on their own POS tab in the sales document list, kept separate from ordinary invoices because a till sale reconciles against the drawer and the session rather than against a customer's account.
What you see on this screen
Three things are counted here and they are not the same: a terminal is a till, a physical point of sale; a session is one cashier's stint at a terminal, opened and closed against a drawer; a transaction is a single sale rung up during a session.
Four cards open the screen: Today's Sales, Transactions, Active Sessions (tills currently open, not sales) and Avg. Sale Value.
A red or amber notice appears when phone payments did not become sales — separating those that failed outright from any that settled and were never attached to a sale, which means somebody paid and the till has no record of what for.
Sales by Payment Method shows each method as a bar with its value. Sales by Terminal gives each till its own block with value and transaction count.
Recent Transactions lists:
- Transaction # — the sale's own number.
- Terminal — which till rang it up.
- Customer — the customer, or Walk-in where none was recorded.
- Amount — the grand total.
- Status — see below.
- Time — when it was rung up.
Filters and actions
Show Filters opens Date From and Date To, with a Reset. Every figure on the page follows that range.
Status values
- completed — the sale went through and the money was taken.
- voided — the sale was cancelled; nothing was collected.
- returned — goods came back and the sale was reversed.
