What this screen is for
A transfer between two accounts you own is not income or expenditure, and this screen is where those movements are recorded and listed. Each row shows the transfer number, where the money came from, where it went, the date, the amount and any fee charged. You can filter by bank account, date range and type, where the types are bank to bank, cash and bank, and settlements.
When to use it
Use it when cash is banked or drawn, when funds move between two of your accounts, or when a payment gateway settles into your bank. Deleting a transfer reverses the ledger entry behind it, so the books stay consistent.
What you see on this screen
- Transfer # — the transfer number, which opens the transfer
- From — the source account, with a tag reading settlement or contra where the transfer is one of those two kinds
- To — the destination account
- Date — the transfer date
- Amount — the sum moved
- Fee — any charge deducted on the transfer, or a dash where there was none
- Actions — delete the transfer
The source and destination can each be a bank account, a cash account or a wallet.
Filters and actions
Show Filters opens Bank Account, From Date, To Date and Type, each applying as you change it, with Reset to clear them. The Type choices are:
- Bank to Bank — a movement between two bank accounts
- Cash and Bank — cash banked or drawn out, recorded as a contra entry
- Settlements — a payment gateway paying its collections into your bank
New Transfer in the header records one. Deleting asks you to confirm; the ledger entry behind the transfer is reversed with it.
