What this screen is for
This screen lays a financial year out as months across the top and the things you spend on down the side, so a pattern of outgoings is visible in one view rather than as a list. You move between financial years with the navigator, narrow to a single category with the chips, and hover a figure to see the individual entries behind it — description, date, vendor and whether each is paid or still pending. Items you want tracked are added from the header.
When to use it
Use it when planning ahead or looking back over a year, where the question is when money leaves rather than what a single expense was. For the detail of any one item, the entries behind a cell will take you there.
What you see on this screen
Four cards: Opening Balance (what was carried in from the previous financial year), Total Payable, Total Paid and Outstanding Balance.
The grid has three fixed columns on the left — Particulars (the tracked item, tagged Manual where you added it by hand rather than it being drawn from the books), Amount as a monthly figure, and Opening Bal from the previous financial year — then each month of the year, each split into three:
- Payable — what fell due in that month
- Paid — what was actually settled in it
- Balance — what remains of that month's payable
A Summary block at the right end gives Total Payable, Total Paid and Total Balance for the row across the whole year, followed by an Actions column.
Rows drawn from the books expand to show the individual entries beneath. A manual row's monthly cells can be edited in place by double-clicking them.
Filters and actions
The Financial Year navigator moves between years with arrows or the dropdown. A row of category chips narrows the grid to one category, with All to clear, and a count of categories shown sits beside them. Hovering a figure raises a panel of the entries behind it — description, date, vendor and amount, grouped where several share a description — and clicking the marker on the cell opens the full list. From there each entry links to the record it came from, whether an expense, a salary payment, a loan payment, a purchase payment, an advance, a statutory payment or an investment. Add Tracker Item adds a row of your own.
