What this screen is for
This is the summary view for the Accounting module. It shows how many accounts you hold and the totals for assets, liabilities and equity, this month's revenue and expenses with the change against last month, net income, journal entry counts split between posted and draft, the combined bank balance and the amount still outstanding on loans. Below the figures sit a twelve-month revenue against expenses chart and your largest expense categories.
When to use it
Open it at the start of a bookkeeping session to see where the month stands before going into detail elsewhere. The cards link through to the underlying screens, and the header carries shortcuts to record a new journal entry or an expense.
What you see on this screen
The first row of cards covers the position of the books:
- Accounts — how many ledger accounts exist in your chart of accounts
- Assets, Liabilities, Equity — the totals of all accounts of each type
- Revenue and Expenses — this calendar month, each with the percentage change against last month underneath
The second row reads the activity:
- Net Income — this month's revenue less this month's expenses
- Journal Entries — the total count, with posted, draft and this month broken out beneath it
- Bank Balance — the balances of your bank accounts added together, with how many accounts that covers
- Loans Outstanding — the principal still owed, with active and closed loan counts
Below those: Revenue vs Expenses (12 Months) as a chart, Top Expense Categories with the amount and number of expenses in each, Cash Flow (This Month) as Inflow, Outflow and Net Cash Flow, Bank Transactions grouped by type with counts of mapped and unmapped items, and Journal Entry Types by count. Expenses Overview gives Total Expenses, Total Amount, This Month and This Month Amt with a list of recent expenses; Loans Overview gives Total Loans, Total Principal, Principal Collected and Interest Earned with the active loans listed.
The Recent Journal Entries table at the foot carries Entry #, Date, Type, Source, Status, Debit and Credit.
Filters and actions
There are no filters — every figure is either this month or the position as it stands. The header carries New Journal Entry and Add Expense. Each card title and the View All links open the screen behind the figure, and a row of quick links to the financial reports sits at the very bottom.
