Contact Lists

The contact lists campaigns are sent to, static or dynamic, with totals for lists and contacts and a breakdown of how many lists are of each kind.

What this screen is for

Cards count your lists, the contacts across them, and how many lists are static against dynamic. The table shows each list with its description, type, contact count and creation date, and can be searched and filtered by type. Opening a list shows and manages its members.

When to use it

Build a static list when you want a fixed set of people you curate by hand, and a dynamic one when membership should follow a rule. Lists are the audience a campaign is aimed at, so it is worth checking the contact count before launching - and remembering that suppressed contacts are skipped at send time regardless of which list they sit in.

What you see on this screen

Four counters: Total Lists, Total Contacts, Static Lists and Dynamic Lists.

The table has six columns: Name, Description, Type, Contacts, Created and Actions. On a dynamic list the Description column also shows the rule that decides membership, so you can see at a glance what the list actually selects rather than only what it was called.

Row actions are View, Edit and Delete. Deleting shows the list name, its type and how many contacts it holds, and states that all member associations will be removed.

Filters and actions

Show Filters reveals a Search box matching the list name, a Type filter offering All Types, Static and Dynamic, and a Reset button. New List creates one.

Status values

Static - a fixed set of contacts you add and remove by hand; it changes only when you change it. Dynamic - membership follows a rule, so the list can be different tomorrow without anyone editing it. The contact count on a dynamic list is therefore a reading at this moment, not a fixed figure.
