Bank Accounts

The bank accounts your company holds, with their type, current balance, status and which one is the default.

What this screen is for

This is where your bank accounts are set up and maintained. Each row carries the account name, bank, type and current balance, with counts of active and inactive accounts and a combined balance across the top. You can search by account name, bank name or code, filter by type and status, and open an account to view or edit it.

When to use it

Add an account here before you can record payments against it, reconcile it or import its statements. Note that marking an account the default here does not change which payment mode an invoice preselects; where the two disagree the screen says so and points to the payment mode settings.

What you see on this screen

Four cards: Total Accounts, Active, Inactive and Total Balance across every account. The table carries:

  • Account Details — the account name, a Default tag where it is the default account, and the masked account number beneath
  • Bank Details — the bank name and the IFSC code, or N/A where neither is recorded
  • Type — Savings Account, Current Account, Credit Card, Cash or Other
  • Balance — the account's current balance as the books hold it
  • Status — Active or Inactive
  • Actions — view, edit, activate or deactivate, and delete; the last two are hidden on the default account so it cannot be removed by accident

Where the default bank account and the default payment mode point at different places, a banner names both and links to Settings, Payment Modes.

Filters and actions

Search by account name, bank name, or IFSC code narrows the list and the four cards with it, since the search runs on the server. All Account Types and All Status filter the list. The footer sets 10, 25, 50 or 100 rows per page. Add Bank Account in the header creates one.

Status values

  • Active — available for recording payments, imports and reconciliations
  • Inactive — kept with its history but no longer offered on new documents

Related

  • Bank Statements — import transactions for an account set up here
  • Bank Reconciliation — check an account against its statement
  • Bank Book — movements and running balance per bank
