Leave Types

Defines the kinds of leave your company offers and how each behaves — maximum days, accrual frequency, carry forward, paid or unpaid.

What this screen is for

A leave type is a named category of leave with rules attached. For each one you set the maximum days allowed, how many days of service must pass before it can be taken, whether it accrues monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or yearly, and how accrued days are rounded. Flags mark it as paid leave, earned leave, carry forward, leave without pay, or as allowing a negative balance.

The list shows all of this at a glance, with the properties as small badges on each row.

Why it matters

Every allocation and every application is made against a leave type, and the rules set here are what decide how balances build up and whether unused days survive into the next year.

What you see on this screen

  • Name — what the leave type is called.
  • Max Days — the most days allowed under it.
  • Accrual — how often days accrue, as a badge, or a dash where the type does not accrue.
  • Properties — small badges for whichever flags are set: Paid Leave, Earned Leave, Carry Forward, LWP and Allow Negative.
  • Actions — edit and delete.

Adding or editing a type opens a form with:

  • Name — required.
  • Max Days Allowed — the ceiling for the type.
  • Applicable After (days) — how many days of service must pass before it can be taken.
  • Accrual Frequency — None (not earned), Monthly, Quarterly, Half-Yearly or Yearly.
  • Rounding — how accrued days are rounded, in steps of a tenth of a day.
  • Tick boxes for Paid Leave, Carry Forward, Earned Leave (Accrual), Leave Without Pay and Allow Negative.

Filters and actions

There are no filters; the list is short by design.

  • Add Leave Type — creates one.
  • The pencil icon edits a type; the bin icon deletes it, naming it in the confirmation.
