What this screen is for
Which items actually sell. Over a period, the report totals quantity, discount, tax and sales value for each item, alongside its average unit price and the number of bills it appeared on. The same figures are rolled up by category, with each category's share of the total.
When to use it
Reach for it when deciding what to stock more of, what to stop carrying, or where discounting is quietly eating margin — the discount column beside the sales column is the pair that shows it. A restaurant can narrow the same figures to one floor or one table. The report exports to Excel, CSV and PDF, and can be printed on an 80mm till roll.
What you see on this screen
Four cards open it: Total Products, Total Quantity Sold, Total Sales and Total Invoices. Beneath them sit Top 5 Products, each with its value and units, and Monthly Product Sales (6 Months), month by month with quantity and value.
Sales by Category totals the same money a different way — Category, Products, Qty, Discount, Tax, Sales and Share — and is the shorter list to read first.
Product Sales Detail is the main table, and every column heading sorts:
- Product — the item, with its SKU and, where you use variants, the size or colour it sold in.
- Qty Sold — units moved over the period.
- Avg Price — the average unit price actually achieved, which is not the list price where discounts were given.
- Discount — the discount given away on that item.
- Tax — tax charged on it.
- Total Sales — what it brought in.
- Invoices — how many bills it appeared on. A high value spread over few bills is a different item from the same value spread over many.
Filters and actions
A date range picker sits in the header. Filters offer Floor, Table and Salesperson, with Reset; the floor and table controls are there for restaurant trading. A search box above the detail table narrows it by product name.
Print produces the standard report document. Export gives Excel, CSV, an A3 landscape PDF, or the 80mm till receipt.
