What this screen is for
This is the register of everything the company owns and tracks. Six tiles across the top give the total assets, their total value, how many are assigned, how many are under maintenance, how many warranties are expiring, and how much maintenance is due.
The filters narrow the register three ways: a search across the asset name, asset number and serial number; a category; and a status. The table lists each asset with its category, its status and who currently holds it.
When to use it
Use it to locate a specific asset by name, number or serial, to see everything in one category, and as the starting point for assigning, transferring or retiring an item.
What you see on this screen
- Asset — the name, with the asset number beneath and the serial number under that where one is recorded.
- Category — how the asset is classified, or a dash.
- Status — the asset's state, with its condition in brackets beside it.
- Assigned To — the person currently holding it, or a dash.
- Value — the purchase price, with the current value beneath where depreciation has changed it.
- Actions — view, edit and delete.
Beneath the table, an Upcoming Maintenance panel lists servicing falling due within the next thirty days. The register pages at twenty rows.
Filters and actions
Show Filters opens three controls: a search across the asset name, asset number and serial number; a Category list; and a Status list. Reset clears all three. Add Asset registers something new. There is no export or print.
Status values
- Available — in stock and free to issue.
- Assigned — issued to somebody.
- Under Maintenance — being serviced or repaired, and not available.
- Disposed — sold, scrapped or otherwise written off.
- Lost — missing. It can be set on the asset itself but is not offered in the Status filter.
Condition, shown in brackets, is one of excellent, good, fair or poor.
