What this screen is for
A delivery challan is the document that travels with goods being dispatched. This screen lists them with summary counts above, searchable by customer and filterable by status and by challan type: supply, job work, sample or return. Each challan moves from draft to sent, then delivered, returned or cancelled.
When to use it
Raise a challan whenever goods leave the premises, including for job work sent out to a vendor and samples issued, not only for sales. The type matters, because goods sent for job work are expected back and goods supplied are not.
What you see on this screen
Four cards: Total Challans, Draft, Sent and Delivered. The table carries:
- Challan # — the challan number
- Customer — who the goods are going to
- Type — Supply, Job Work, Sample or Return
- Date — the dispatch date
- Qty — the total quantity the challan covers
- Amount — the value of the goods on it
- Status — draft, sent, delivered, returned or cancelled
- Actions — view, preview the printed document, edit and delete
Challan #, Date, Qty, Amount and Status can each be sorted on.
Filters and actions
Search by challan #, customer, vehicle narrows the list — the vehicle being the one carrying the goods. Show Filters opens Status, Challan Type, Date From and Date To, with Reset and Clear All. A chip switches Newest First / Oldest First. Create Delivery Challan raises one.
Status values
- Draft — being prepared; the goods have not gone
- Sent — dispatched with the goods
- Delivered — confirmed as arrived
- Returned — the goods have come back, which is the expected end for a job work challan
- Cancelled — abandoned
The four types describe why the goods are leaving: Supply for goods sold or supplied, Job Work for goods sent out to a vendor for processing and expected back, Sample for goods issued as samples, and Return for goods being sent back.
