What this screen is for
The setting that decides which of your products are treated as returnable cylinders. You tick every item that goes out full and comes back empty; anything left unticked is an ordinary product and is not tracked for return.
When to use it
Set this up before you start recording any cylinder movements, and revisit it when you add a new size or a new gas. Nothing at all appears on the balances, history or deposits screens for a product that has not been marked returnable here, so a missed tick looks exactly like a product nobody has ever issued.
What you see on this screen
A note at the top states the rule: tick every product that goes out full and comes back empty, and adds that empties coming back are still entered by hand. Below it, an amber warning appears while nothing at all is ticked, because in that state no invoice is recording cylinders however many are being issued.
The table then lists your products:
- Product — the item's name.
- SKU — its code, or a dash.
- Returnable cylinder — a switch. On means invoicing this item issues a cylinder against the customer's balance; off means it is an ordinary product and nothing is tracked.
The switch takes effect immediately; there is no separate save.
Filters and actions
A search box matches product name or SKU, with a Search button beside it — useful where the catalogue is long and only a few items are cylinders.
Update from existing invoices re-reads the invoices you have already raised and records cylinder movements for the items you have just ticked. It is what you run after ticking a product that has been selling for a while, so its history is not lost. It is only available once something is ticked.
Balances returns to the main cylinder list.
