What this screen is for
Where the dining room is defined rather than operated. Each table is recorded with its name, the floor it stands on, how many it seats, its shape and its position in the list, and can be marked inactive when it is out of use without being deleted and losing its history.
When to use it
Set this up when opening, and return to it when the layout changes — a table added, a section closed for refurbishment, seating rearranged for a function. The floor view during service is drawn from what is configured here, so it needs to be right before the room is trading.
What you see on this screen
One row per table:
- Name — what the table is called, such as T1 or Table 01. This is what the floor view prints on the tile.
- Floor — which floor it stands on.
- Capacity — how many it seats.
- Shape — square, round or rectangle; the floor view draws the tile to match.
- Status — the table's live state, carried over from service: Available, Occupied, Reserved or Billing.
- Active — a tick or a cross. An inactive table is kept, with its history, but does not appear on the floor.
- Actions — edit the table, or delete it. Deleting asks first and names the table, its floor and its capacity.
The form behind Add Table and Edit Table holds the same fields plus Sort Order, which decides where the table appears in the list, and a Table is active tick. Floor offers the floors already in use and an Add New Floor option for typing a new one.
Filters and actions
Floor View returns to the live service screen. Add Table opens the form. There is no search or filter here — the list is the whole room.
Status values
- Available — free to seat.
- Occupied — a party is at it.
- Reserved — held for a booking.
- Billing — the bill is being settled.
These follow what is happening during service. The Active column is a separate thing: it decides whether the table is part of the room at all.
