What this screen is for
The board shows one project's work items as columns, one per state, and dragging a card from one column to another changes its state. A project picker sits in the toolbar and lists only open projects; a type filter narrows the board to one kind of work item, showing its glyph rather than a plain word. A density control expands or collapses the fields on each card, which is what keeps a long column scannable.
A filter bar adds a keyword search, an assignee and a state. A view switcher moves between this board, the list, the backlog and the calendar without losing the project and type you have chosen. The New button carries the active type through, so a board filtered to one type creates that type.
When to use it
Use it for a stand-up or a daily walk of a single project, where the question is what has moved and what is stuck.
What you see on this screen
The board has five columns, in this order:
- New — raised and not started.
- Active — being worked on.
- In Review — with somebody for checking.
- Resolved — done, awaiting verification.
- Done — finished.
Each column header carries its colour, its count and a plus for adding an item straight into it. Withdrawn work does not appear on the board at all.
A card collapsed shows the type icon, the reference and the title. Expanded it adds the state, the assignee or Unassigned, who raised it, who closed it where it is finished, the priority, and the progress of any child items. A column shows twenty-five cards at a time, with a link to show more.
Filters and actions
A project must be chosen before the board draws. The type list narrows it to one kind of work item, and the density button expands or collapses the card fields.
The filter bar adds a keyword (matching title or reference), Assigned to — including an Unassigned choice — States, Area, Iteration, Parent work item and Raised by, with Clear to drop them all.
Dragging a card between columns changes its state. Each card's menu offers Open, Edit, Add child item, and a Move to list of the other columns, which is the way to move work without dragging. The view switcher moves to the Backlog, List or Calendar keeping your project and type.
