What this screen is for
This is the availability view for a venue. You pick the hall and the month, and the grid marks each date: held dates show the customer and function type, and dates that were booked and then cancelled are marked separately, because a cancelled date is free to book again. A count of dates held this month sits alongside the legend. Where a hall's day runs past midnight, the screen notes that a one-day function occupies two dates.
When to use it
Use it when an enquiry comes in and you need to know whether a date is free, and to see how full a month is. Selecting a date takes you on to the booking form.
What you see on this screen
A hall selector and a month, with arrows for the previous and next month. The grid lays the month out as dates. Each date is in one of three states, named in the legend:
- Booked — the date is held; the customer and function type are shown on it
- Cancelled — free again — the date was booked and the booking was cancelled, so it can be sold again
- Unmarked — free
Beside the legend, a count reads how many dates are booked this month. Where the chosen hall's day ends before it starts — a hall running, say, from the afternoon to the following afternoon — a note says so and explains that a one-day function shows as two dates in red.
Selecting a held date opens its detail with a link to Open booking. Selecting a free date offers Book this date, and where that date was previously booked and cancelled it says so first.
Filters and actions
The hall selector and the month arrows are the only controls. Book a Hall in the header opens the booking form directly.
