Attendance

The daily attendance record for the period: present, absent, half day, on leave and late arrivals, with bulk marking and a printable sheet.

What this screen is for

This is where attendance is viewed and corrected. Six figures summarise the period — total employees, present with a rate, absent with a rate, half days, on leave and late arrivals — and filters narrow the view further. A bulk marking option covers a whole date at once, and a print action opens the sheet for the period and filters currently on screen.

When a period contains days whose scans cannot be read with confidence — a missing punch, or one counted twice — a banner says how many and points you at the days concerned. Nothing is corrected automatically; a person decides what happened on those days.

Why it matters

Pay, statutory registers and leave balances all read from this record, so a day left unmarked or wrongly read follows through into the payroll run.

What you see on this screen

Six cards head the page: Employees, Present with its rate, Absent with its rate, Half Day, On Leave and Late Arrivals.

Below the period controls, attendance is drawn as a grid rather than a list:

  • The first column, which stays put as you scroll sideways, is the Employee — photo or initials and name, opening their record in a new tab.
  • Then one column per day in the period, headed with the weekday and the date. Today is highlighted, weekends are shaded.
  • The last column is the Total for that person across the period.

Each cell is coloured by what happened that day, and the legend along the top names the colours: Present, Absent, Half Day, On Leave, Holiday, and a ringed marker for a late arrival.

Filters and actions

  • Filters — opens Search (name or code), Department, Status and Reset.
  • Weekly / Monthly — how much of the calendar the grid covers.
  • The arrows and Today — move between periods.
  • Print — opens the sheet for the period and filters on screen, in the browser's PDF viewer, so Print and Save are both one click away.
  • Bulk Mark — marks a whole date at once.
  • Clicking a cell opens that day, where status, check-in and check-out times, breaks, the raw punches behind it and a remark can all be set.

Status values

  • Present — a full working day.
  • Absent — did not attend.
  • Half Day — part of the day worked.
  • On Leave — away on approved leave.
  • Holiday — a company or public holiday.
  • Weekly Off — a non-working day under the person's shift.
