What this screen is for
This screen holds the company holiday calendar. You choose a year, and the page counts the holidays in it, how many are still upcoming, and how they break down into national, company and restricted. The list gives each holiday's date, the day of the week it falls on, its name, its type and a description, with past dates dimmed.
Holidays are added, edited and removed from here.
When to use it
Set the year's calendar up in advance, before attendance is marked against it. Holidays feed into how days are counted on attendance and on statutory registers, so a missing entry shows up later as an unexplained absence.
What you see on this screen
Four cards head the page: Total Holidays, National, Company and Restricted. A line beside the page title repeats the total for the chosen year and how many are still upcoming.
The table carries:
- # — the row number within the year.
- Date — the holiday's date.
- Day — the weekday it falls on.
- Holiday Name — what it is called.
- Type — National, Company or Restricted, as a coloured badge.
- Description — free text.
- Actions — edit and delete.
Dates that have already passed are dimmed, so the year's remaining holidays stand out.
Filters and actions
- The year selector in the header chooses which year the page covers.
- Add Holiday — opens a form asking for the Holiday Name, the Date, the Type and an optional Description.
- The pencil icon edits a holiday; the bin icon deletes it, repeating its name, date and type in the confirmation.
Status values
Holidays carry a type rather than a status:
- National — a public holiday.
- Company — a holiday your company declares.
- Restricted — an optional holiday staff may choose to take.
