What this screen is for
This is the audit trail. Each entry names the action taken, the person who took it, the document it was taken on, the IP address where known, and the time it happened. The document name links straight to the document. You can search by person or document title, and filter to a single kind of action.
Why it matters
An electronic signature is only as good as the record behind it. This is the evidence that a document was opened, signed or declined by a particular person at a particular time — which is what you need if the agreement is ever questioned.
What you see on this screen
The trail is a list rather than a table, newest first. Each entry carries:
- A round icon on the left, coloured by the kind of action, so signing, declining and access refusals are told apart at a glance.
- The action in words, followed by the person who took it — their name, or their email address where no name is held.
- Underneath, the document title as a link through to the document, and the IP address the action came from where one was recorded.
- On the right, the date and time, in your company's timezone.
Where nothing matches, the list is replaced by a note that there is no audit activity yet.
Filters and actions
- Search by person or document title — the box narrows the list as you type.
- The action selector beside it — All actions, or one of the actions that have actually been recorded.
There are no buttons: nothing on this screen can be edited or removed, which is the point of it.
Status values
The actions recorded are: created, sent, email sent, reminder sent, viewed, signed, completed, artifacts generated, pdf generated, declined, expired, access granted and access denied. The last two record who was let in to a signing link and who was turned away.
