What this screen is for
This report totals the time logged over a period. Four figures head the page: total hours, billable hours, non-billable hours and the number of entries. Beneath them, one table breaks the hours down by project and another by team member, each with its own entry count, and a final table lists the individual entries.
Filters set the project, the team member and a from and to date.
When to use it
Use it when billing a client for time, when checking how much effort a project has consumed against what was quoted, and when you need the billable against non-billable split for a period.
What you see on this screen
Four figures head the page: Total Hours, Billable Hours, Non-Billable Hours and Total Entries.
Beneath them are three tables:
- Hours by Project — Project, Hours and Entries, heaviest first.
- Hours by Employee — the same three columns, for people rather than projects. The heading uses whatever your company calls its staff.
- Detailed Entries — Date, the employee, Project, Task, Hours, Billable (Yes or No) and Description, with the number of entries in the heading.
Filters and actions
Four controls: a project, a person, a From Date and a To Date. There is no export or print, and no status or approval filter — this report counts the hours that were logged, not the ones that were approved.
For billing, the figure to take is billable hours for the project in question; the by-project table is the quickest way to that number, and the detailed entries are what you show a client who asks what the hours were spent on.
