SMS Logs

Every SMS this company has sent, not just campaign messages, with counts that follow your filters and a breakdown of why messages failed.

What this screen is for

The cards count total, delivered, sent or submitted, failed and queued messages, and they follow whatever filters you apply, with a line underneath stating what is being counted. A failure breakdown groups the failures by cause, largest first, and each group is clickable to show just those rows. The log can be filtered and exported to CSV.

Why it matters

This log covers every kind of send, including transactional messages raised elsewhere in the app, which is why its totals will not match the campaign screen. It is the right place to answer whether a particular message left, and the failure breakdown is usually faster than reading rows one by one.

What you see on this screen

Five counters: Total, Delivered, Sent / Submitted, Failed and Queued. The line beneath states exactly what is being counted - every message this company has sent, campaigns, single sends, API sends and booking notifications alike - and notes that the SMS Campaigns page counts campaign recipients only, so its totals are smaller by design.

Why messages failed groups failures by cause, largest first, and each group filters the list to those rows. Causes are also classed by what you can do about them: will never send, can retry, fix and resend, or unrecognised.

The table has eight columns: Message ID, Sender, Recipient, Message, Status, Submitted, Delivered and Actions. Opening a row shows the full detail - message identifier, sender and the provider used, recipient, type, segments, cost, the message body, the failure code and what to do about it where one applies, and a timeline of created, submitted, delivered and failed times.

Filters and actions

Show Filters reveals Status, Sender ID, Sent from (which distinguishes campaigns, single sends, booking notifications, booking feedback and the various test sends), Recipient, From Date and To Date, with Reset. Export CSV downloads the filtered set and Refresh re-reads it. A row still in flight offers Check Delivery Status, which asks the operator for an update.

Status values

Queued - accepted here, not yet handed over. Sent and Submitted - passed to the operator, no delivery report yet. Delivered - the handset confirmed receipt. Failed - the send failed. Rejected - the operator refused it. Expired - it was never delivered within the validity window.
