TDS on Sales

Income tax TDS deducted by your customers when settling your invoices, totalled for a period and broken down by customer, by section and by individual receipt.

What this screen is for

When a customer settles an invoice net of tax deducted at source, the deducted amount is still owed to you and is recorded as TDS receivable. This report covers a date range and gives the total TDS deducted, the gross settled including that TDS, and how many receipts carried a deduction. Below, it breaks the same figures down by customer and by section, then lists the individual receipts.

When to use it

Use it when reconciling your TDS receivable, when claiming credit, and when a customer's deduction needs checking against your own record. Note that this covers income tax TDS only — GST TDS and TCS are not included here, and the screen says so at the top.

What you see on this screen

A note at the top explains that this is income-tax TDS your customers deducted when paying your sales invoices — an asset you reclaim through Form 26AS — that it is recorded on the receipt through Record Payment and the Customer deducted TDS option, and that it posts to your TDS Receivable ledger.

Three cards follow:

  • Total TDS deducted — the tax withheld across the period
  • Gross settled (cash + TDS) — the invoice value settled, being the cash you received plus the TDS deducted from it
  • Receipts with TDS — how many receipts carried a deduction

By customer lists each customer with the number of receipts in brackets and their total TDS. By section does the same by the TDS section applied. The Receipts table lists every one: Date, Receipt number, Customer, Invoice, Section, Cash actually received, TDS deducted and Gross, which is the two added together.

Filters and actions

From and To dates set the period and Apply loads it. There is nothing to post here — the deduction is recorded when the receipt is entered, not on this screen.
