What this screen is for
A salary component is one line of a payslip. Each is an earning, a deduction or an employer contribution, belongs to a country or to a global set, may carry a formula that calculates its amount, and can be marked as statutory. The list shows all of this along with whether the component is active, and can be filtered by country, type and status or searched by name.
If you have no components yet, an option loads a set of samples to start from.
Why it matters
Salary structures are assembled from these components, and payslips are assembled from the structures, so a component defined wrongly here is repeated on every payslip that uses it.
What you see on this screen
- Name — what the component is called, with the first part of its description underneath.
- Type — Earning, Deduction or Employer Contribution, as a coloured badge.
- Country — the country flag and name, or a globe and Global where it applies everywhere.
- Formula — the expression that calculates the amount, shown as code, or N/A where the amount is entered by hand.
- Statutory — a tick where the component is required by law, a dash where it is not.
- Status — Active or Disabled. The badge is a button: clicking it switches the component on or off.
- Actions — edit and delete.
A line under the table says which rows of the total you are looking at.
Filters and actions
- Show Filters — opens the filter row.
- Country — All Countries, Global, or one of the countries offered.
- Type — All Types, Earning, Deduction or Employer Contribution.
- Status — All Status, Active or Disabled.
- Search — by component name.
- Reset — clears all four.
- Load Sample Components — offered only while the list is empty; it loads a starting set.
- Create Component — adds one by hand.
Status values
- Active — offered when building a salary structure and used when payroll is run.
- Disabled — kept for history but no longer offered.
