Bank Book

Bank movements for a chosen period, either summarised across every account or as a single account ledger with opening, deposits, withdrawals, closing and a running balance.

What this screen is for

The bank book reads in two ways. With all banks selected it gives one row per account — opening balance, deposits, withdrawals and closing balance — totalled across every account. Choosing a single bank switches to that account's ledger, with each movement and the running balance after it. Selecting a row in the summary opens that account.

When to use it

Use the all-banks view when you need the overall bank position at a date, and a single account when you are tracing a particular movement or preparing to reconcile. A contra entry can be recorded from the header, and the report can be printed, downloaded as a PDF or taken as a CSV.

What you see on this screen

On the all-banks view, three cards: Banks (how many accounts), Opening (all banks) and Total Outstanding (all banks). The table then gives one row per account:

  • Bank and Account — which account the row is
  • Opening — its balance the day before the period begins
  • Deposits — money in across the period
  • Withdrawals — money out across the period
  • Closing — opening plus deposits less withdrawals

A Total (all banks) row adds the columns together.

Choosing a single bank replaces this with that account's ledger. Four cards give Opening Balance, Deposits (In), Withdrawals (Out) and Closing Balance, and the table carries Date, Voucher, Particulars, Ref, Deposit, Withdrawal and a running Balance, opening on an Opening Balance row and closing on Totals / Closing Balance.

Filters and actions

The bank selector in the header switches between All Banks and one account. The date range picker sets the period. Contra Entry records cash banked or drawn out. Print, PDF and Excel produce the same document the server builds.
