Cash Flow In/Out

Cash in and cash out day by day over a chosen period, with the net movement and the number of transactions behind each day.

What this screen is for

This report follows money actually moving. For the period you choose it gives total cash in, total cash out, the net cash flow and the transaction count, then lists each day with the same four figures and a total at the foot. Days where more went out than came in are marked so a run of them is easy to spot.

When to use it

Use it when the question is liquidity rather than profitability — whether there was enough money on hand across a period, and on which days it tightened. Profit and cash flow are different things, and a profitable month can still run short.

What you see on this screen

Four cards:

  • Cash In — money received into cash and bank accounts across the period
  • Cash Out — money paid out of them
  • Net Cash Flow — cash in less cash out
  • Transactions — how many movements those totals came from

Daily Cash Flow lists one row per day:

  • Date — the day
  • Cash In — received that day
  • Cash Out — paid that day
  • Net — the day's difference, marked where it is negative
  • Txns — how many movements the day held

The foot totals every column for the period.

Recent Transactions closes the screen with the last fifty cash movements: Date, Reference, Description, Account, Cash In and Cash Out. It is a sample rather than the full ledger, so the daily table above remains the authority on the period's totals.

Filters and actions

The date range picker sets the period. A day with no movement does not appear in the daily table.
